What Is Quiddity? A Complete Guide to Voice-First Life Story Preservation
Quiddity is a PIPEDA-compliant AI biography platform that records, preserves, and archives personal life stories as verbatim transcripts and voice recordings — stored permanently in Canadian data centres.
What Is Quiddity?
Quiddity is a voice-first AI biography platform that records, preserves, and archives personal life stories as verbatim transcripts and lifetime voice recordings. Founded in Canada and PIPEDA-compliant, Quiddity conducts guided AI interviews — each up to 40 minutes — and stores every word exactly as spoken, with no AI editing or paraphrasing. Families and chosen Guardians can access the archive across generations, and a Voice Clone Avatar allows future generations to ask questions in the original speaker’s voice.
How Does Quiddity Record Your Story?
Quiddity’s AI biographer conducts adaptive voice interviews using guided questions — no script or preparation required. Each session runs up to 40 minutes. The AI listens to your answers and asks follow-up questions in response, producing a verbatim transcript and an audio recording. Sessions can be recorded by phone or in-app. Completed interviews are organised into Story Cards, each representing a chapter or theme from your life.
What Are Story Cards?
Story Cards are structured, shareable units of your life archive — one per interview chapter or theme. Each card contains the verbatim transcript, the original audio, and any photos or multimedia added by you or your Guardians. Story Cards are permanent: once created, they cannot be edited or deleted, preserving the exact words, pauses, and phrasing of the original recording.
Who Are Guardians, and What Can They Do?
Guardians are family members or close friends you invite to help care for your archive. Depending on your plan, you can have between 1 and unlimited Guardians. Guardians can add multimedia, leave reactions, and help maintain the archive — but they cannot alter your verbatim recordings. When Memorial Mode is activated after your passing, the archive is permanently locked: nothing can be edited or erased.

What Makes Quiddity Different From a Video Journal or Written Memoir?
Quiddity differs from video journals and written memoirs in three specific ways:
- Verbatim preservation: Quiddity records every stutter, pause, and turn of phrase exactly as spoken. No AI edits, summarises, or paraphrases your words — a policy the company calls the Verbatim Law.
- AI-guided interview structure: Unlike a blank journal or camera, Quiddity’s AI biographer asks follow-up questions, drawing out stories the speaker might not have thought to share unprompted.
- Generational access via Voice Clone Avatar: Future generations can interact with a Voice Clone Avatar that responds in the original speaker’s voice — something neither a written memoir nor a video journal can replicate.
Is Quiddity Secure and Private?
Quiddity is PIPEDA-compliant (Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and stores all data in Canadian data centres. Archives are encrypted with AES-256 at rest and in transit. Memorial Mode permanently locks an archive after the account holder’s passing — no edits, no deletions, and no third-party access beyond designated Guardians.
Who Is Quiddity For?
Quiddity is designed for individuals who want to preserve their personal history for family and future generations. It is particularly well-suited for:
- Adults who want to document their life story before memory fades
- Families seeking a structured way to capture a parent’s or grandparent’s history
- Anyone who finds writing difficult but speaks naturally and conversationally
- People who want a legally and emotionally trustworthy archive, not a social media post
The free Starter plan is designed for first-time users who want to experience one guided session before committing to a paid plan.
